Beauty Blender vs Shoppers Drug Mart Quo Blending Sponge

I've heard a lot of people say that there is absolutely no dupe for the Beauty Blender and that you're just going  to have to spend the $30 to get the same results of a beauty blender, but I honestly don't believe that's entirely true.

In today's post I'm going to talk about a cheaper alternative for the Beauty Blender.

For those of you who don't know, the Beauty Blender is an egg-shaped makeup sponge that promises to give you a perfectly blended finish with your foundation. Youtube and the rest of the Internet are flooded with Beauty Blender lovers.

I am definitely one of those people.

I use the Beauty Blender or a 'like' product every day, and I haven't used anything else since I bought it.

By 'like' product I mean an egg-shaped sponge and that's where the Shoppers Drugmart Quo brand sponge comes in.

This sponge is also egg-shaped and is made for the same purpose.

To use these you simply hold the sponge under water, squeezing repeatedly until it fills up with water. After a final squeeze letting out most of the water, you are ready to apply your foundation with it.

The reason for the water is to help your makeup to stay on the outside of the sponge and not soak in resulting in loss of product.

The Quo Sponge is a little more latex feeling than the Beauty Blender but feels cooler on the face. In my opinion they both leave my foundation looking great and that's all I ask for.
I especially love the $5 price.

Don't get me wrong; I love my Beauty Blender and will continue to repurchase but I don't love the $30(CAD) after tax price that comes with it.

One thing I have noticed is that a wet Beauty Blender works faster at blending in foundation  and does a little better of a job than the Quo sponge when used dry to blend any powder products.

The Quo sponge is a little too firm for powder products in general, it just kind of shoves the powder into your face rather than giving it a nice blended finish.

All in all, if you're just getting started with makeup and plan on using this strictly for foundation, I would highly recommend trying the Quo version first and then if you decide you want to upgrade you can keep the Quo sponges as back-ups.

I found that alternating between the Beauty Blender and the Quo sponge helps to prolong the life of both!
