Ipsy vs BeautyBox5

Its that time again!

Ipsy time!

This month is a little different because I also decided to try out BeautyBox5 and do a little battle of the beauty boxes for you guys!

Both of them came within a week of each other so the timing couldn't have been more perfect for the blog!

My boyfriend, Chris, also decided to get a subscription box this month called Nerd Block which is basically comic con in a box. So, I will also be showing you a few pictures of what he got at the end of this post!

So without further ado we have,

Ipsy vs BB5

Both Ipsy and BB5 are around the same price after shipping and the exchange rate (Approx. $15 CAD) and both came with 5 items this month so I'll be comparing them based on total value and the likelihood of me using the products!

First up is...

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8 (1ounce sample size) $1.50
Marrakesh Endz Hair Treatment (1oz full size) $5.99
Elizabeth Mott Tint & Sass (Full Size) $23.00
Whet Nail Polish in "Facetious"(.3oz) - $9
Bare Minerals (0.03 oz) - $6.66
Total Value: $46.15

I think this months Ipsy Bag was pretty decent! I like how the actual bag resembles a giant pink ravioli. I will say that I don't like the nail polish at all, the colour is just not my thing. I'm most excited for the lip and cheek tint because it reminds me of Benefit benetint which I have always wanted to try but just haven't yet!

and now,

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara (Full Size) - $7.99
Hask Argan Oil Intense Hair Treatment (Full size) - $2.49
Nicka K New York Nail polish- (Full Size) - 4.99
Body Drench Candy Licious Lip Balm in Red Liquorice - (Full Size) -$3.99
H20 Plus Bath Aquitics Shampoo - (Sample size 1.25oz) - Approx. $2 (Full size 8.5oz $10.00)
Total Value: $21.46

Conclusion: This was my first BeautyBox 5 box and even though the value wasn't that great I really liked all the products. The H20 plus shampoo has a very strong perfume smell but thats really my only complaint about any of this months products. My favourite thing in this box was surprisingly the little Candy Licious Lip Balm because it smells soooo good, exactly like red liquorice.

I'm going to have to say Ipsy wins this one.
The value of the bag and the quality of the products are a lot better than BB5! That being said I probably will get the most use out of the drugstore products in the BB5 box (mascara, lipgloss, hair mask).

Now for the Nerd Block!

The cost of Nerd Block is actually only $19.99 but after shipping it was closer to $30.
Each box includes a T-shirt that usually fits the months theme in whatever size you choose.

Here's what Chris got for July's Box.

  • Ninja Turtles Tshirt
  • Starwars stuffed toy
  • Nerf Zombie Strike Gun
  • Comic-con movie with 2 action figures (Including Stan Lee!)
  • Starwars Insider Magazine ( not included in picture because I forgot about it ;) )
