Billy the puppet (Saw) Halloween Makeup Tutorial

Halloween is one of my most favourite times of the year because it's so much fun but, as you probably know, buying Halloween costumes can get pricey.

Each year I end up spending at minimum $60 on a costume I end up wearing only once.
This year I decided to try and keep costume costs at a minimum to reserve money for beer! PRIORITIES!

After hours of browsing Pinterest and watching a million Halloween tutorials on YouTube, I've finally decided to go as Billy the puppet from the Saw movies!

This look is the perfect amount of creepy and cute!
You need very few things to pull this off, most of which I had on hand already!

What you will need for the outfit:

  • Black Blazer
  • Black Skirt or Pants
  • White button down shirt
  • Red bow tie

What you will need for makeup:

  • White face paint
  • Red lipstick
  • Red lipliner
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Black liquid eyeliner
  • Mascara or fake eyelashes
  • Translucent Powder/Baby Powder
  • Brown/Copper eyeshadow(Optional)
  • Eyeshadow blending brush
  • Small angled eyeshadow brush
  • Flat Eyeshadow brush

Here are the 12 steps I used for the makeup!

Face Base:

  • Apply a thin layer of white face paint to the entire face and build it up until you get to your desired opaqueness. This particular brand from the dollar store was very patchy so I recommend grabbing your paint from a halloween vendor.
  • Dust your face with translucent powder (This makes the white paint look a little less patchy and helps it to stay in place).

  • Using the small angled eyeshadow brush and black eyeshadow fill in your eyebrows.
  • Using the eyeshadow blending brush and a little bit of black eyeshadow lightly contour the sides of your noes starting at the top from your eyebrows to mid way down your noes.
  • Using the same blending brush lightly contour the natural outer apples of your cheeks (Here I also touched up the white on the apples of my cheeks)

  • Using the red lip liner draw spirals starting in the middle of the apples of your cheeks (inside the contour)

Eyeshadow and Mouth lines:
  • Using a damp eyeshadow brush apply black eyeshadow to your upper eyelids and under your lower lash line (The damped brush will intensify the black eyeshadow)
  • Using a dry blending brush apply a light dusting of black eyeshadow back over your lids and gently blend it up into your creases.
  • Using the same blending brush and dark brown or copper eyeshadow, lightly blend the brown into your crease and up towards your eyebrows. ( Optional)
  • Using the black liquid eyeliner, starting from the corner of your mouth, draw a vertical line down to the bottom of your chin on each side (connect at the bottom under neath your chin).

Lips and finished look:
  • Line your lips and apply the red lipstick. I added a little black eyeshadows in the corners of my lips to add a little but of darkness and dimension.
  • Apply your fake eyelashes or mascara and your ready to go!
There are a few things I will probably do very differently on Saturday night when I wear this out to a halloween party!

The white paint was a little streaky so I will be looking for a better brand to use as I got mine at the dollar store!
My original plan was to overdraw the lips which didn't work out resulting in messy lipstick application!
Also I completely blanked out and forgot to apply my lashes!!

Other than those 3 issues, this was very easy and only took about half an hour. I will check back in and post pictures of the final look from Halloween night once it is finished!

Happy Halloween!
