L'oreal Fibralogy Review and First Impression

I hope this stuff turns me into Blake Lively

As some of you may know I have very thin and fine hair! I've accepted it. On the bright side it doesn't take me over 15 minutes to curl or style it!

However, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly jealous of those blessed with a full head of shiny, thick hair. My gorgeous cousin Courtney for example:

How is that amount of beauty even fair!? ;)

I received a package in the mail from a company called Influenster. They basically connect brands with social medial influencers i.e. Bloggers, Instagrammers, YouTubers. They had teamed up with L'Oreal to give 1000 Canadians the Fibralogy hair care line for free to test out and I was lucky enough to score one!

The box contained 3 products:

Step 1 -Thickening Shampoo
Step 2 -Thickness Booster
Step 3 -Thickening Conditioner

The Science

This is the product description found on L'oreal's website :

"Paired with our exclusive Fibralogy technology, Filloxane deeply penetrates the hair fibre as a liquid and converts to a solid state. Filloxane remains inside the hair for up to 10 shampoos, creating a cumulative thickening effect. After 5 applications hair feels fuller, more luscious."

I was pretty skeptical as "fibralogy" and "filloxane" didn't quite sound like real words to me but, I still decided to go into it with an open mind.

The Directions:

1. Start with Fibralogy Thickening Shampoo. Rinse.
2. Deposit a dime-sized amount of the Booster in your hand and apply evenly throughout hair.
3. Without rinsing, apply Fibralogy Conditioner or Mask on top.
4. Rinse thoroughly.

The initial directions that came with the box didn't mention that the Booster serum wasn't supposed to be used EVERY time you wash.

The website however, did mention only to use the "Booster" 1X week for regular use and 2X a week for intensive treatment.

That explains why the booster bottle is so much smaller than the shampoo and conditioner. So, for about 4-5 days I was using the booster too often.

The Verdict

After the first wash I did notice my hair felt softer and had more volume. I loved how my hair smelled and felt but it wasn't necessarily "Thicker" just bigger.

After a little over a week I did actually start to notice increased thickness and even had someone at school refer to me as "someone with long, thick hair" (Thanks Ebony).

Overall, I would suggest giving this product a try as it does moderately work and is inexpensive.
I notice more of a difference in thickness on the days that I use the booster serum but the shampoo and conditioner alone do still give nice volume and smell.

It's hard to tell, especially in pictures!
