Drugstore Hits and Misses!

So happy to finally be doing this post! I have been trying out quite a few different drugstore products lately and have found  a couple of awesome new things as well as a couple of duds that just didn't cut it.

The Hits!

Let's start with the products that I'm currently loving!

L'oreal La Palette Nude 1 & 2

I was a little put off at the prices of these palettes in Canada. I have seen them range from $22 to $27 depending on the retailer.

Although I do still feel these are a little pricey for a drugstore palette, I find myself reaching for these extremely often.

They have a nice mixture of matte and shimmery shades. The pigmentation is decent for drugstore and they blend nicely and last all day. They also look better applied then they do in swatches.

HardCandy Tiki  Highlighter

By far the biggest hit in this list! This is marketed as a "Bronzer" but is extremely light and makes for an AMAZING cheek highlighter. I have yet to find a drugstore brand with a better highlighter at such an affordable price! If you don't own this I highly recommend running to Walmart and snatching up this drugstore gem.

Nyx Dewy Makeup Setting Spray

HG setting spray. I reach for this over my Urban Decay All nighter spray almost always. As I've said before my skin is on the dryer side so the dewy finish this spray leaves makes me very happy. I also notice that even on the hottest summer days my makeup is able to last at least 8 hours. I love this and will continue to repurchase this!

Maybelline Master Prime Primer

This stuff is great! I usually reach for this over all of my high end primers. It's a cream based primer that sits so comfortable on the skin that you forget you even put it on! I also notice my makeup lasts longer and sits more evenly on my face.

The Misses!

These are the products that just didn't work for me!

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper

I know a lot of people really loved this product and for only $11, it has been considered an awesome dupe for Benefits Gimme Brow but for me it just didn't do the trick. I love my Benefit Gimme brow and really was hoping this was comparable.

If you generally don't do much to your eyebrows this product would be great as it does a great job taming brows and the tinted formula does help to darken as well.

In my case, I have plenty of gaps in my brows from over plucking/waxing in high school and this seems to make them stand out more where as the Benefit product adheres to the skin and hair to create a fuller brow with no holes. I also find the applicator a tad too big. Not a total dud, but not a hit for me.

HardCandy Makeup Setting Spray

This was probably my biggest disappointment. The price was awesome, under $6 and this spray has an amazing fresh cucumber scent!

The downfall is that this spray doesn't work, at all. I feel like my makeup lasts longer without the spray. I have dry skin so typically I'm not asking for much from a setting spray so I could only imagine how much of a nightmare this stuff would be for someone with oily skin.

The fresh scent does make this product usable for a nice facial mist on a hot day but is useless for makeup longevity.
